I see lots of adverts for scientifcally based skin cares but I would like to know which one is best for an over 60 female. I look after my skin but suffer from thin crepy skin on. my lower arms and hands. I need a line and tightener for my face and neck too.

Dear Gloria,
Angelica is right - all skin care creams and treatments (except one) do their job superficially, only on the top layer of your tissue (epidermis). Fibroblast cells, responsible for collagen, elastin and hyleuronic acid production (which gives our tissue volume, elasticity and moisture), are located in a deeper tissue layer called dermis. The deepest skin peel or laser re-surfacing treatment that you can get will get down towards only half of your top layer - epidermis - while dermis is still not going to be touched. It is still better than nothing as your skin will still benefit from it for a few months, but the treatment will have to be repeated in a few months time. Obagi Nu-Derm medical system is the only system available at the market right now which can deliver active ingredients to the dermis to wake up your fibroblasts and make them produce collagen. It has a 'deliverer' in its formular which carries the active ingredients all way down to dermis and even subcoteneous (the bottom layer of our tissue where the fat cells are located). This is the only reason why Obagi Nu-Derm system is so amazing - because it acts on ALL 3 levels of the tissue - epidermis, dermis and subcoteneous - and not just superficial. Check out before and after photos on my website www.bodysilk.co.uk or just get in touch if you have further questions.

Dear Gloria,
I sympathise with you - I'm sure you will have every practitioner suggest their own favourite skin cream, but I'm afraid there is no true skin tightener in a bottle.
It is widely acknowledged that any 'damage' caused to the skin, stimulates the production of collagen which helps keep skin taught. Skin lasers such as Fraxel do just that and this form of treatment should help to improve your skin quality and fragility…there are an abundance of non-surgical ways to improve your skin quality such as Dermaroller, lasers, RF devices etc - all have a similar effect of stimulating collagen growth through skin cells disturbance.
Hope this is of some help!
