Hi everyone... have several small white scars on my chest (about 1.5cm in diameter). Do any experts on here know, would scar excision be possible on this area? and what is the typical price range of such treatments? Are these procedures ever done on the NHS?

Scars can only be swapped for different scars. A consultation would be required to advise about the benefits of treatment. Treatment will probably only require local anaesthetic.
The NHS may offer care....

Dear Sam, sadly whenever skin is cut a scar remains, so it is not ideal to remove scars surgically. The new generation Fraxel laser has just received FDA approval for the treatment of scars, and I will be looking at the data with interest as scar management is an area in which, to date, we have been able to offer very little in the way of treatment. Chemical skin peels can help reduce the appearance of you scars. I also advise you to keep out of the sun and use factor 50 on your chest as tanning the surrounding skin will make these white pigment-free areas look more obvious..
