What's the best options for getting rid of tear troughs? Particularly interested in non-surgical as don't fancy an op but is it one of things that you have to have surgery to get best results?
I was also considering tear trough treatment and have been advised than they can be treated with a variety of non-permanent Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm or Teosyal. I'd say that as with any aesthetic treatment it's always advisable to seek expert opinion and advice from a qualified medical practitioner which is what I did and it really helped me decide the best way forward.
Oh really? I didn't realise that was the case. If you don't mind me asking what route did you take? I'll have to look for some before and afters to see how the results look.
Thank you,
Viv
it's true that non-permanent Hyaluronic Acid dermal fillers are an option for treating the tear trough area without the need for surgery. Restylane and Juvederm are good product to use in this area and have a natural and consistant result - they also have a very good safety profile. You want to be sure to go to someone very experienced before getting injections in this region. Restylane can often last 6-12 months in the tear trough region.
Hyaluronic acid is produced naturally by the body and found in soft tissues. The Restylane®, Juvederm® and Teosyal® ranges are synthesised and commonly used cross-linked hyaluronic acid gels. These are chemically similar to the naturally occurring gel and are inert and hypoallergenic.
Treatment with hyaluronic acid gel is entirely reversible, either over time or with an injection of hyalase to degrade it. Hyaluronic acid gel causes few side effects and complications. It is therefore regarded as one of the safest fillers for use in tear troughs and for loss of periorbital facial volume.
Hyaluronic acid gel is injected in clinic during a routine visit and causes very little swelling and only occasional bruising. Most people feel happy to return to work immediately.
Thank you Dr Souza! I would defiantly only go to an experience Dr if I was going to have any injected near my eyes!
Those slight risks you mention, are their any risks with my eyes? Could any damage happen to them?
Thank you again for helping me out!

Dear Vivienne
Tear tough dips/dark circles are often caused by lack of 'padding' sitting between the skin and underlying blood vessels and tissues. An effective non surgical solution is to have filler in the trough. This manages to disguise the darker colour and fills the dip a little. Small bruising can happen as the skin is very delicate but IF it does happen cover up makeup is enough to disguise this. The effects are enjoyed for around a year as the filler doesn't biodegrade that quickly due to lack of movement in the area. I hope this helps....best wishes Angelica

I know you don't want to go the surgical route, but there is an amazing before and after by Mr Douglas McGeorge of an eyelid procedure to get rid of bags under the eyes. The lady was rather old (without wanting to sound rude!) and she looks great!
I think by far the best non invasive procedure for your query would be non-surgical tear trough removal using dermal fillers.
The procedure produces a really amazing result and in my opinion, in 95% of cases of patients presenting with lower eye bags or hollows, the surgical option, blepharoplasty, is now completely unnecessary. It should also be much more effective than a mid-facelift as it concentrates purely on this area. My favourite filler in this region is Restylane Perlane and the procedure is safe and relatively painless without the scarring that surgical alternatives will produce.
This treatment may require ‘top ups’ in the future, but really is extremely effective. This is one of the treatments that I am renowned for and I have carried out over 3000 very successful procedures for tear-trough removal, for many very happy patients. If you would like more information please contact my clinic on 0207 100 1234.
Dear Vivienne
Dark circles and under eye hollows are a common problem that can make you look tired and drawn.
Hyaluronic acid filler is a simple procedure that takes under 30minutes and can leave you looking fresh and rested. The effects should last upwards of 12months.

Thank you Angelica...I just can't imagine what this treatment's results look like! Have you got any before and afters for it?
Viv
Haha thanks Lucy, I'll give that a go in the meantime, but I think I need more than a couple of slices of cucumber! Viv
